Free NHS flu vaccine for eligible groups, 2026/27
England's 2026/27 free NHS flu vaccination programme runs to 31 March 2027. Most adult groups started on 1 October; pregnant women and eligible children started in September. Eligible adults include those aged 65 by 31 March 2027, people with qualifying health conditions, pregnant women, eligible carers, care-home residents and household contacts of people with weakened immune systems. People aged 16+ who are rough sleeping or staying in homeless hostels or night shelters also qualify. Frontline health and social care workers should use their employer's service; limited fallback NHS routes apply. Children qualify through age or clinical-risk rules, including ages 2–3 on 31 August 2026 and reception to Year 11; most receive a nasal spray. Check the NHS guidance for the appropriate GP, pharmacy, school or online booking route. Covid-19 vaccination has separate eligibility.

Free weekly outdoor games for all generations
ParkPlay offers free weekly games and activities at participating parks, welcoming all generations. Everyone attending must register once for free; a parent or guardian must register under-18s, and under-14s need an accompanying adult before, during and after the event. Use the official location finder to check your nearest ParkPlay and its session details. The programme runs throughout the year; check local arrangements before travelling.

Warwickshire & Birmingham: free Super 1s cricket
Super 1s offers free weekly cricket coaching for young people with physical or learning disabilities. Warwickshire Cricket Foundation lists sessions for ages 12–25 in Birmingham, Coventry, Leamington, Stratford and Solihull. Its programme runs throughout the year and says no sign-up is required. Southwark residents: free swimming and gym
Southwark residents can register for free swimming and gym access at council leisure centres. Standard sessions run all day Friday, Saturday 2–5.30pm and Sunday 2–9pm, subject to centre programmes and exceptions. Bring ID and proof of address to register; gym use requires an induction. Additional arrangements apply to over-60s and eligible disabled residents. Check the centre's timetable before going.

Brighton & Hove residents aged 18 and under can register for free public/general swimming at King Alfred, Prince Regent and St Luke's pools. Available after 3.30pm on term-time weekdays, at weekends and bank holidays, and throughout local school holidays including inset days. Register at a pool with proof of residence. Under-eights need an adult in the water, with no more than two children per supervising adult; the child's offer does not promise free adult entry. Check session timetables.

Book a Barclays Free Park Tennis session at a participating park through the LTA’s location finder. Sessions welcome all abilities and include rackets and equipment. Create a free LTA Advantage account to book. Children under 13 need an accompanying adult. Local times and availability vary, and bad weather can cause cancellations. No paid membership is required.

Join free weekly 5k and junior events
parkrun provides free, timed 5k community events every Saturday. Junior parkrun offers free 2k events for children aged 4 to 14 and their families every Sunday. Register for free and bring a scannable barcode for a recorded time. At 5k events, under-11s must stay within arm's reach of a parent, guardian or designated adult. At junior events, under-11s must be accompanied to the start and from the finish.

Save with a Prescription Prepayment Certificate
People in England who regularly pay for NHS prescriptions can cover unlimited eligible prescriptions for £32.05 for three months or £114.50 for 12 months. A single prescription item costs £9.90, and these charges are frozen for 2026/27. A PPC saves money from four items in three months or twelve in a year. The 12-month certificate can be paid in ten monthly instalments.
